ABC Cargo and Courier is the door to door cargo service provider in the UAE. Everything from Express Delivery, air cargo, sea freight, door-to-door delivery, import and export, logistics, and documentation service, to international cargo services comes under their domain. The success story behind this cargo monopoly is an exhilarating one. The journey from being an operational entity with different systems and diverse desktop applications scattered over various brands to a single integrated system, building the ABC ERP wasn't all milk and roses.

Why did the client approach us? 

When ABC cargo first approached us, their working manner wasn’t as stimulating or designed as it is today. The billing was accomplished and stored using miscellaneous desktop applications, which were then transferred into the cloud server. The probability of these data getting lost was fairly high in case of delays, uncertainty, or connectivity issues, as the billings were entirely system-dependent. The branch code, serial number, and similar data were required to be regenerated each time the system breaks down, which wasn’t rare either. Operational visibility was less which led to business losses and customer dissatisfaction.

What was the solution we suggested ? 

By developing a single system, we were able to deliver the client access to the system through the branch of their choice. All they had to do when starting a new branch was to create the unit in the server, add users and pass the credentials. They can log in from any branch and begin their work without further delay or complications. The merit of this approach was eliminating all kinds of hardware and software dependencies.

For instance, when a booking is assigned from a branch, the driver enters the application to get the location details, after which he picks up the items added, creates invoices, and delivers the parcels. The major challenge ABC Cargo faced was that they could only add items after documenting the customer details in their old application, which posed many complications. In our new application, we made all these skippable options, making it more accessible for the driver to enter whichever segments he chooses. Also, we ensured the Issues that emerged from linking the mobile application to the cloud server were addressed and managed while incorporating this software.

What was the outcome? 

Devising a new customized system that integrates the needs and demands of ABC Cargo took profound research on the freight industry and its operating mode. We made a broad study on the current working strategy of ABC cargo service to analyze the drawbacks before designing the newly confederated system. It was done and maintained in a way they could launch another branch in another country, in a day if they please, cutting down on the number of man-hours and workload. Building a high-end system from scratch enabled us to become the subject matter experts in the domain of couriers and logistics.
